In Training.

When we are working toward a goal, whether it be a 5K we want to be in shape for,  a job we want to land, a class reunion you want to look good for, taking a better picture. Hitting a better shot on the golf course. What do we do? We work our asses off. We train. We take it seriously. And we do it. Day in and day out, we work at it. And our hard work pays off. And we like that feeling.

So, why is it that when we think about the things closest to our hearts, the BIG stuff. The forever stuff, do we think it will just be easy breezy? Does the world tell us that? Because statistics sure don't. How about our relationship with God? Our walk in faith, our relationship with our children? Our parenting skills, our marriage. Our relationship with the ones we love and the mean the most to us? Sometimes we just figure those things should come easy. And they do, really. But like anything else, when life starts happening and little cracks appear, a little wear and tear... We have to be good caretakers. Mend the weathered parts. And many times, it doesn't take much.

Today, as you go out for your run, go into a training session at work, or the gym.. Into a class to better your skills at a hobby or profession, remember to do the little things that will benefit the BIG things too...  Love each other. Your kids. Your husband. Your wife. Your mom. Your neighbor. The stranger in the parking lot. Build up and don't tear down. Encourage. Put a note in a lunch box. A card in a suitcase. Have a kind, sincere word to say. Touch your loved ones. Even just their hand. Just little things. The things that make someone say, "they were thinking of me." Because that feels good. That stuff means a whole lot. It fills up love tanks. And with a full tank, we are better at everything. So, go back to your training, my friends. And make it a beautiful week... And here are some beautiful faces... And tender moments that make me smile. This is who I want to train for. These five faces right here...
